I would give a week in the interests of being polite - or talk to the employee/employer and negotiate a fair settlement for both parties

Ask them what is "reasonable" and then meet them somewhere in the middle, or point out that you are a newbie and it will cost them more to keep you ..

I'd say 1 week is enough...and a bank holiday or paid holiay shouldn't make a difference.

If they moan about it, phone in sick hehe

Seriously, I think you've been very reasonalble. Out of interest, have you got a better job?

What, four and a half days? Seems a little odd!

If you've been employed for less than a year, they can dismiss you with no notice period. A week is fair enough, especially if you've only been there a month.

What does your contract say?

With a 2 month probation, they can let you go at any time with no notice, and vice versa. It's polite to give more than a day's notice though.
