BT have proved to be useless on several occasions now and have just irritated me with their rigid pricing structure. I requested information on how much a caller display feature would cost at our other depot and was told £5.75 per quarter. Being cheeky I replied saying "I'm sure you can waive that charge." The frosty response was a straight no. Considering that my phone bill is a shocking £1500 per quarter this irritated me no end! Little do they know what my master plan is (issuing a few mobile phones!)

Domestic have BT privacy which gets you free caller ID, if they are able to provide it free to domestic it may give you leverage for business.

It's not about the amount of the charge, just seems like they have no regard for their customers.

BTLB are a bunch of T*ssers, is there a true alternative to BT as an end to end provider?

I have a 0161 number with them that diverts to my serviced office in Manchester. Last week they decided to shut it down without bothering to tell me, this led to the number just ringing out hence no clients could get through - very professional

I called BTLB who sounded as if he had one brain cell who immediately redirected my call to a central BT number. After going through a 4 level IVR and holding for 20 mins I was told that I was through to the wrong section. As you can imagine I was somewhat irritated!

Anyway it transpires BTLB set the numbers (fax and phone) up to a different business and had been sending them the bills which unsurprisingly hadn't been paid!

One was the Clevep Medical Centre and the other Steve Sanderson trading as MOP, neither of which I have ever heard of.

I wouldn’t mind but I pay them £6k a quarter on for my main line and they had cut one of my divert numbers off for a £200 bill which they’d never sent me - muppets

Let's wait and see whether they get it sorted, but it just illustrates the lack of care they have for their customers.

Anyone else want to be a member of the anyone but BT club?

Don't you know, Business customers always pay extra (especially with BT). I have tried to swap my business lines to a domestic tariff but they won't let me, and they insist I can't re-claim VAT on domestic invoices despite having done so for years on my expense claims.

BT Local Business tried to sell me a replacement system for my Meridian Norstar, saying that it was out of date, couldn't get bits and really should be updated for the new digital era etc.

This was only a couple of months ago and they quoted a couple of grand for the system.

Yesterday they contacted me saying that BT were cutting the price by 70% for a very limited period!

They couldn't say why but it seems very strange to me....

I must admit they had me the first time around, saying that my handsets needed to be replaced. I plugged in one of the old ones and it worked fine, so complained and got £300 back and a music on hold unit. I was 17 at the time though and very very naive!

There's a load of suppliers out there who will use any excuse to convince you to upgrade or replace your phone system and/or traffic/lines. Same as goes on in any business where the sales people have to meet aggressive targets and the management don't care too much how they go about it. If you are told anything by your supplier post up here and there are a number of us in the trade who will offer advice.
