Although i have the registered address of my company on the bottom of my invoices, is it actually a legal requirement to have it there when the company is ltd?

I've just looked at four randomly selected invoices from my suppliers and they do not have their registered address showing on their invoices... branch address or H/O, company registration number; VAT number, but no registered address.

By showing the co reg no., may be covering any leagalities if any... looking up the number @ Companies House will show the registered address won't it?

I believe that since the start of this year what has to be put on invoices, and in fact all official letters is the registered office of the company, company registration number and where the company is registered (ie UK, England + Wales etc).

This also includes websites!

However, how many companies actually comply with this is probably quite few!

Yes, see the "business names" document at Companies House www.companieshouse.gov.uk

2. What details must be disclosed about a business?

You will need to disclose (as appropriate):
the corporate name; or
the name of each partner; or
the individual person's name; and
in relation to each person named, an address at which documents can be served.
3. Where must this information be shown?

You will need to show the information clearly in all:
the places where you carry on your business and where you deal with customers or suppliers;
business letters;
written orders for the supply of goods or services;
invoices and receipts;
written demands for the payment of business debts.

Changes to business stationery rules

As from 1st January 2007 the following applies to –

Business Stationery

Whether in hard copy, electronic or any other form:

A company must state its name, in legible lettering, on the following -

all the company's business letters, order forms;

all its notices and other official publications;

all bills of exchange, promissory notes, endorsements, cheques and orders for money or goods purporting to be signed by, or on behalf of, the company;

all its bills of parcels, invoices, receipts and letters of credit

on all its websites

On all of its business letters, order forms or any of the company’s web sites, the company must show in legible lettering –

its place of registration

registered number

its registered office address

As you can see, there is no requirement to state the company's registered office on its INVOICES.
Obviously, it makes sense that the company's BUSINESS address should be stated on the invoice - and, of course, the delivery address, if different.
