Hi guys,

Thought perhaps someone here might have some experience, I am looking to get some SMT PCB's manufactured in China. I suppose I could use the UK, but China seems to be so much cheaper. Years ago I used a chap who arranged all of this for me, but now that I have returned to the UK I can't locate him any more.

Anybody use a good company in China or an intermediary? PCB is cigarette packet size, all SMT components and a first run of about 500.

Cheers,
smele.

If you are interested a friend runs an electronic manufacturer based in Essex, for comparison purposes at least. If you mail me, I can pass on his details smile

Probably not worth the bother for 500, loads of UK companies should be able to do the job

I know there are lots of UK companies that can do the job, but there are a couple of future products that I am looking at that will need 1000-3000 a month, so I was looking to find a company in China and give them a try on a smaller order first.

Found many PCB companies on-line in China and some of the prices I have been getting so far for PCB's at 500 piece are 1/2 to 1/3 UK prices and quicker. Will keep on looking.

How does quality and defects monitoring compare? I have heard some horror stories in the past, as well as several in this section (not PCBs mind you).

I have got some good stuff from China and basically they will follow whatever QC process you tell them to (and pay for)

When comparing prices make sure you compare like for like the Chinese boards have to get here (shipping cost) and will be subject to VAT and duty so might not be as cheap as they appear.

Still looking for some cheap Chinese company. Found a few via the internet, but not selected a supplier yet.
