Hi there,

We currently have our servers running @ rackspace. Needless to say, they are always online, excellent support from Rackspace, but one thing bothers me, and that is the constant shift in monthly prices for extra ram/hd, etc.

Which makes expanding, very costly. I can understand the "insurance" attached to it, so if a component fails, it will be replaced, but who can justify an extra £40-60 a month for a GIG of ram, when it's paid for itself after the first 2-3 months, with cost of fitting @ £60ph, cost of ram, etc?

So over the course of 3 years, TCO will be around £1800+ for that 1 GIG of Ram, which isn't even yours.

Nice business model for Rackspace, but not something we're looking to play ball with...

Anyone here provide co-location services, coupled with management, with some decent bandwidth to play with, for a reasonable price? Failing that, decent dedicated servers, with good amounts of RAM + HD space, prices?

Cheers.

Mattt

I work for a large European service provider - we do a variety of services including colo, managed servers and virtual hosting. Serious b/w too, all on our own IP and Tx infrastructure. I'm not a sales guy but PM me your details and I'll get someone to contact you.

smile Check my profile, this is exactly what we do.

Heard nothing but good things about Register1, and will be employing Jamie's services (for hosting wink) myself in the near future thanks to the PH collective. Definately seems the way to go smile
