Excel Help - Picking from a list ?

I’ve seen this on an excel spreadsheet, but can’t figure out how to do it.

You choose the Input Data for a cell from a drop down list on that cell.
This cell appears to generate it’s choices from a list of values on another sheet eg Month can only be one of 12 options (I know because I can see the sheet of values not a formula referencing it)

Did it go something like. Press F1, type in "drop down list", hit search?

Put your options in an area on the sheet, eg 1 to 12

Data - Validation

Select list

in the source box click the icon and select the eg 1 to 12.

Done.
