How can some stores sell products at what appears to be way below RRP?

An example. Today I was in a large dept store that specialises in discount goods (they are a national chain). We were looking at a Tefal pan that they had on sale for £9. Tesco has the same pan for £15-17. They don't appear to be end of line as they are on sale in many shops at a higher price. They did not appear (were not marked as) factory seconds and they were not a one off, the shelves were packed with them. Is this a bit like when Tesco started to sell Levi Jeans at way below price, Levi banned them but Tesco went to the grey market to get hold of them?

Also, again with home/cookware, how does one find out who supplies a supermarket (say ASDA)? Is this a closely guarded secret or can this be discoverd with a bit of digging? Obviously (or is it?) they will buy say Tefal pans direct from Tefal or do they go through a 3rd party. Also, some of the smaller stuff is unbranded, such as baking trays. An hour or so on Google so far hasn't turned up anything. I realise that they buy in massive quantities to get those prices though.

The reason I am asking is that my wife may have spotted an angle selling cookware direct to a niche customer online.

Thanks.
