I took out a loan a while back in my US dollar account as I was based in Dubai.

At the time I was being paid in dollars but spent the money in Sterling. I borrowed the money at 1.74 to the pound I believe and as i'm now paid in dollars am wondering if the time is right to extend a loan I intend to get in Sterling to pay off my dollar loan?

I am getting a UK loan anyway, the dollar loan has no early payment fees and the interest is worked out monthly.

Due to the current exchange rates, would this be a good idea at all or will is the pound expected to strengthen in the near future?

Dave!

If anything the view in the markets is for the £ to begin to weaken against the $ from here on.
