Hey, try Kellysearch.co.uk

It's a business directory. Most listings give web addresses so you can check the credentials of any prospective client.

I take it you're sourcing sales leads of course..?!

But it is sales - you are trying to sell services that your company delivers.

I'm intrigued that you think RA's are "delivering". What are you expecting and what is going wrong? I'm sure many will disagree, but RA's are experts at selling contractors into organisations who want them, especially for something that is mainstream (IIRC MSI packaging?).

If they are failing to deliver, it might be worth looking at what you are asking of them. I don't mean to offend, but if you can't get a contract then it is likely you are:

- asking for too much money
- lacking in relevant skills
- asking for too much money
- unwilling to travel
- asking for too much money
- failing to sell yourself
- asking for too much money
- chasing the wrong role
- etc etc

And no, I am not a recruitment consultant.

Consider that many big companies outsource the majority of their application provisioning, and especially packaging. You will be competing against the UK and offshore packaging factories. You might be better off targeting a few of them and gaining some commercial experience while you are there.

Are you currently in a contract or actively looking?

Thanks for the reply, I'm currently seeking contract or permanent work and available to commence work asap. I find I am getting put forward for the contracts but it seems i'm loosing out to established contractors and in a lot of the cases contractors who have worked for the client before. I'm confident that my price is not too high (usually agree to what the client is offering). I am also confident that my skillset is comprehensive enough (matches at lease 90% if not 100% of skill being asked for in the ads). When I say "Not delivering" I get frustrated with the majority of agencies lack of knowledge in MSI packaging after saying they source many packagers and also their lack of ability to keep you informed of an applications progress when they say they will. I am also prepared to travel. I'm currently at 2nd interview for 2 permie roles so maybe I'll be lucky in another permanent role?

Sussex,

I used to be a Recruitment Consultant.

You may be registered with the wrong kind of agencies. Some, as I did, tend to work on the fly as it were and spend their time sourcing great candidates to then pitch into various organisations.

Sound like you want to work for a blue chip, so I would suggest seeking out the agencies that have the PSL's with the companies that you want to work for.

Ring the companies HR dept and ask which agencies they have on the 1st tier PSL, then call them to register... this, I would suggest would give you the best chance of reaching interview stage as they will have an intimate knowledge of their clients interview structure.

Hope that helps.

If it's any help... I have contacts with 1st tier preferred supplier status with Thales communications and LogicaCMG, also a couple of big law firms on the IT side.

Regards
David
