Hi all,

I need to think of a job title for a senior manager running all of our IT functions with the exception of financial systems (we use Oracle FWIW). So, it covers helpdesk, data and systems architecture, CRM/sales/order systems, voice systems and so on.

Not sure what level the job is, so could be Manager of... Director of... something.

Any ideas? Any polite ideas?

The function you are talking about sounds more like an IS function (Information Systems) - or Infrastructure.

Thanks for the ideas. Trouble is, the CRM system, data warehouse, middleware and organisation-wide data architecture fall in this role, as well as helpdesk and infrastructure.

Also, the otherwise good IT (operations) conflicts with the "operations" department (which is really Network Operations).

I'm coming down to Director of Finance Information Systems and Director of ENterprise Information Systems. Or something...

Yes, that's pretty much what caused the problem to start with! Maybe putting it in the form of pseudocode would do it:

while (system != financial) do
manage (system);
end

I like the Google idea - just make up titles.

"Chief Lizard" was a good one. hehe
