OK, research tells me that my 500 Freeserve shares were transmuted into 112 Wanadoo shares (though they didn't bother to tell me). How do I find out the value of Wanadoo shares? They don't come up in any search.

I even registered here: www.advfn.com but they want money before they'll tell me anything, bah.

They're on French stock markets IIRC.

I did wonder if it was on the FSE (Frog Stock Exchange)... but then maybe they've been transmuted AGAIN into Orange shares?

As a 'shareholder' why do I hear nothing at all from anyone? No invites to the AGM to drink champagne etc.

Can anyone confirm a Wanadoo > Orange takeover?

The whole thing is quite astonishing.

You had me going for a bit there - but Wanadoo doesn't exist there either:

"France Télécom SA's ISP subsidiary, Wanadoo SA has snapped up the UK's largest ISP Freeserve in an all-stock deal valued at 157p per share, or approximately £1.65 billion."

"France Télécom already owns London-based mobile phone operator Orange PLC after buying the company in a 26.9 billion pound merger in May and owns about 22 percent of the UK-based communications group NTL."

Google is you friend!

also...from 2004 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/3512645.stm

So France Telecom shares then! http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/q?s=FTE.PA

Genius! Thanks biggrin

Right, so I bought 500 Freeserve shares at £1.50 each = £750 investment.
Then Wanadoo/France Telecom bought them at £1.57 per share so I have... err... anyway, France Telecom shares are E25.46 = £17.74 each. If I have 112 shares that's £1986.88 biggrin

Does that sound right?

If that really is your return, then if we raise ShareHeads from the ashes, are you willing to run it hehe

I could hardly do worse! But please note that investments may go up as well as down, your house may be at risk, and the Management reserves the right to increase its fees to whatever it likes at any time without notice. Oh, and it's a long term investment, which means we can cock up and it won't matter. Your quarterly statement will remind you that global conditions have been volatile (or possibly difficult), but on an optimistic note it will point out that now is an ideal time to invest. But you won't see that, because most of the page is taken up with a large colour photo of Lord Simpo sitting behind a vast walnut desk, with a blotter and one piece of A4, clutching a gold pen. A brandy glass is visible stage left.

Well that's how the big boys get away with it!

Not France Telecom then?

My main point is - as a shareholder, why the BLOODY HELL didn't any of these companies tell me (a) what was going on (b) where my shares are? It's pretty damn poor. Where do I get a share certificate from? How do I prove I have any? How do I sell them? etc etc.

Agree with your point - pretty poor show really. Mind you they don't treat their customers any differently either. One month my broadband bill was on Wanadoo headed paper, the next month it was orange with an accompanying letter - lucky I didn't thow it away thinking it was another unwarranted circular...

It might not be, from the looks of it Wanadoo bought Freeserve shares http://www.m-a-monitor.co.uk/xam-bin/m?maf03061 then France Telecom bought Wanadoo shares http://www.eadp.org/index.php?q=node/12768

Where did you buy the Freeserve shares? You should be able to find out what holdings you have from them.

You'd think so, yes. But I got them directly when they floated, as I was an existing Freeserve user.

My wife bought me a share in PLayboy as an Xmas pressie a couple of years ago and I have to say, they send me newsletters, financial returns etc etc. Must cost them a fortune but they keep me as informed as someone who has lots of shares. I think something is very wrong with the service you are getting.

We have exactly the same thing with Disney. Kinky junior got 1 share as a gift, and every year he gets tons of stuff from them.
