I am self employed, runs my own business and am on PAYE. I started working for a large company for 2 days a week, part time basis for a short term contract and they asked me to produce them my date of birth and my NI number. Are they allowed to ask me for this info seeing that I am self employed and wish to stay on PAYE basis.
Shall I provide them my NI number so they can get me the right tax code or continue paying on PAYE ?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

What you state is quite confusing, "I am self employed and wish to stay on a PAYE basis".Shall I provide them my NI number so they can get me the right tax code or continue paying on PAYE ?

However, simply put, if it's short term contract where you're invoicing them for work done then no they wouldn't need anything, if it's a PAYE situation, then they'll need these details, and request you sign a P46 to ensure they're conforming with the correct proceedure, and you get the correct tax code, probably BR.
Tearz - you cannot be personally "Self Employed" and operate PAYE on your personal income. The two schemes are mutually incompatible.
Obviously, if you run your own limited company and are a director of that income, then any salaries paid to you by the company should be operated under the PAYE scheme. This is a different scenario and does not constitute a "Self Employed" situation.
Which of these are you?
