I've been throwing around a few ideas of possible business ventures for the future and I quite like the idea of freight forwarding.

I have checked out all aspects and the two which are stumping me at the moment are Secure Storage and Contents/Liability Insurance.

The problem I have is that I don't want a huge intial outlay of capital as I just don't have the money to fund it and I have no idea how much storage would cost me.

Would anybody be able to offer me some advice?

If you can get reliable drivers, surely you can get the goods moved straight away, thus negating the need for secure storage? With respect to insurance, surely all you are doing is charging a handling fee for moving the items, the shipping etc will have insurance.

With respect to capital, if you're really stumped, you could try factoring, not ideal, but sometimes the only way.

Why don't you outsource the storage to a logistics company? What volumes and throughput of stock are you looking at? Where and what would you be looking to store?

Drop me an e-mail. We specialise in (GIT & Liabs) insurances for the transport industry. I'll pass your contact details on and one of my guys can chat through the options/budgets with you.

Cheers.
