Maybe a bit of a random question, but...

Does anyone have an implementation of Qlikview they use at work?
Looking at it to try to take on some of our reporting and analysis work on our trades and accounts. Also some other areas may use it, quants etc. Mainly cash based and bonds, not the biggest setup but a lot of turnover.

Had what was the worst demo this week, but I think I see some potential. I'm going to follow it up, but wanted to see if there were any opinions on it or alternatives...

Thanks in advance

I use it. Quite like it. VERY fast.

Edited to add: Suppose I could elaborate a little on that.
Look after the design of our set-up, so I'm the holder of the "top-level" license (whatever it's called with QV). So I look after import scripts / sheet design. That side of things is VERY easy. It is good for allowing security options (works on a table basis - you create one table assigning people to groups, and another assigning groups to levels of access). The documentation isn't awesome for that (and some other bits) but if you're used to looking after SQL stuff it's a doddle.

The scheduled updates (re-importing each night for us) works well, and is simple to manage.

Cost - well...we didn't go with the most expensive solution...nor the cheapest.

Licensing is odd for QV. The one we went for was a number of named users - but they have "token based" where any number of people can log-in, and for each part hour they use, it costs one "token". Not a cheap model. Prefer the one we went for.

The greatest thing about it for me is the way it allows the user to drill down from top-level to individual line items so quickly, and split the data in so many different ways. Obviously care needs to be taken to be cautious with the design of things, to make sure you do get what you want - but it's far from difficult.

Mail me if you want more info / specific questions answered. We're just about to roll-out our first major use of this to users, but they were very impressed with the demo they got replacing their ancient database "solution" - and I use the term "solution" loosely!

Jerrold, you have a reply to your mail.

I'll see if I can find an example of a set-up similar to what you're talking about in the QV documentation and drop you screen shots.
