This advice is general, not specific, I know nothing about bailiffs apart from the speed that one left my place a couple of years ago.

Write down what you are good at
Write down what you like doing

These two lists won't necessarily be the same.

Work out form those lists what sort of things that use your best skills in a way you enjoy.

Find a job that allows you to use them

Usually there's also a balance regarding pay levels and opportunities, hence there are far more accountants than lion tamers.

I think you have to be emotionally resilient to be a baliff: not take what is said and done to you personally, be persistent and not let failure get you down.

Not much help I know but I think that things I like doing don't necessarily make for a career, for example I like to watch the stock market but couldn't be a trader, I might like sex but not want to be or have the attributes to be a prostitute?

Why don't you pop along to your local court and see if you can have a friendly chat with the court bailiff, these are usually a bit nicer as they are paid a salary and not on commission. He/she/they may be able to give you a few pointers as to what's required, what you need to do etc.

We have seen a big increase in Bailiff applications to us in recent months (all those TV programmes?)

Court Bailiffs have a pretty cushy life compared to private bailiffs, and are regarded as pretty ineffectual to be honest.

If you want to earn a decent wage go down the private route. If you want to collect council tax or rent arrears you must be certified first.

Its a tough job, expect verbal abuse everyday, expect to get a bit of a kicking now and again, but its certainly can be interesting.

Good luck
