Where's the best, most cost effective place to buy shares in a small way. Transactions in the low 000s?

I use selftrade. £12.50 per trade, very easy to use.

If you join and I recommend you we both get £50. This is on the condition that your first trade is above £500.

PM me if interested.

Does your bank offer a trading service? I only buy now and again so the HSBC Investdirect service suits me... only £11 or so a deal.

Prepare for lots of cold calls from wide-boy Hoodless if you use them. Worth another fiver to use somebody else.

Fool Sharebuilder.

Comission Free at the moment, until June/July. Only downside is that you can only choose from 3-4 days in the month when you can trade, hence the reason for no commission.

It can be DRIPped as well smile
