New laws tackling illegal migrant workers come into force on 29 February which mean employers face higher penalties for taking on illegal workers. Under the regulations, firms face fines of up to £10,000 per staff member and a two year prison sentence for knowingly employing illegal workers.

any thoughts ?

true... but what about the crafty immagrants with facke passports and i.d etc..

are small ( all ) business owners expected to become experts in discovering if a professionally faked passport is real or not ?

what if you follow all due dilligence and still get caught and fined as a result ?

example the poor lorry drivers that get caught with illgals in their trailer?

well lets hope so. £10k is quite a bit of wedge frown

although if HM gov did a proper job at border control this whole issue wouldent even be raised.

Typical Govt tactic of passing the buck/blame to us. They're too afraid to stop illegals or send them home, so they make us do the policing instead. Same goes for innocent lorry drivers with stowaways.
