Just received a call from a +34 number about investing in Brazil. Told them I was going through a bankrupcy (which I'm not) and that ended the call niceley.

I guess it was a boiler room scam and that I didn't just pass up my once in a lifetime chance at enjoying 1000% returns on my investments?

I would put money on it being a scam.

I am based in Spain (where the call came from) and there are a lot of property companies who do a lot of investing in the emerging markets over there, the chances are you have been on a mailing list of have given them a lead from somewhere and they have called to see if you are interested. Its unusual for them to cold call so you probably given them a lead somewhere you might not have been aware of.

Did you get the company name? I will probably know them.

There are some good investments in Brazil at the moment btw smile

There are also a lot of British run boiler room share dealers based in Spain. A couple of guys who worked for one were living in my building and I could hear them practising their pitch. They base themselves in Spain to try to avoid the UK authorities.

Yes there are a lot of share dealers that are boiler rooms in Spain, but the property investments (assuming that was what it was) are all legit.

Where is your building in Spain, Marbella area by any chance?

Yes land is good in Brazil at the moment looked at a few sites out there myself, but as you say you need someone on the ground there or you run the risk of getting fingers burned.
