lawyer for exclusivity contract
Discussion
We are just looking into selling a product from an EU producer, and we have agreed with them to be their sole distributors. We would both like a contract to this effect, so I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a lawyer to use?
We have a lawyer in London, but they are very expensive, and I don't think it is necessary to pay London prices for this service. Any pointers gratefully received.

That's right, save a few quid on drafting an agreement fundamental to your business!!We have a lawyer in London, but they are very expensive, and I don't think it is necessary to pay London prices for this service. Any pointers gratefully received.
FFS!
This should take a decent City lawyer two hours tops. That's about a grand.
Money well spent, for the peace of mind of knowing it's done right, no?

City lawyer has a big reputation to protect and is insured up the a55.
But carries probably no more or less PI insurance than any other lawyer practising in this field, and probably won't get out of bed for a job this small (by their own standards, of course). To the OP - any commercial firm will have a company/commercial department to whom this kind of thing is meat and drink. It's not rocket science.
You need to be clear whether the governing law and court with jurisdiction to deal with disputes will be English or Italian. If your supplier has any say in it and is based in Italy, I'd guess they will stipulate the latter...

another point is that the suppliers are Italian - what do we have to take into account WRT having the contract translated, and does the lawyer here need to have a knowledge of Italian law?
TuscNick, can you email me?
I shall email you.TuscNick, can you email me?
My firm has Associate offices in Italy, if necessary we could work together to deal.
Not sure where some people have got their quotes from, it may take 2 hours, but it could take less or more.
It is right that this agreement would be fundamental and worthwile investing in getting the job done right.
If it does turn out to be Italian jurisdication, I could refer you to our associate office.
Cheers
Nick
