Does anybody know if the white haired one plans to raise the stamp duty threshold?

No idea. Borrowings up £13bn though, and growth revised down to 1.7% IIRC about 3% was pencilled in not so long ago. The 2p fuel duty hike is postponed.

Various financially insignificant but headline grabbing 'sweeties' for the masses totalling about £900m worth being handed out. So more fags and booze for the Chav on the street then.

I hadn't given it much thought but I guess it might be a good way of trying to stimulate the housing market scratchchin

I would be a very happy Piglet if it was increased to £150k...

Income shifting legislation delayed until next year for 'more consultation'! I'm staggered, they actually seem to have listened to everyone that said their proposals were unworkable.

I too am interested in the Stamp duty issue, I have searched but cant seem to find anything, I guess even if he does do something it will not be on higher end property values.

It already is in deprived areas.. which Comically E14 is (Canary Wharf)

Now, try and find a property for <£150k around here and you win a Big Mac smile

The Budget speech is not very revealing these days.

The actual provisions of the Budget will emerge over the next week or so when the media hacks have all hared off onto another story. The only journos left on the case will be those from the Financial Times and the Accountancy/Tax mags.

The Budget is now a highly cynical exercise in media manipulation.

Come back in a fortnight for the real story.

Yet the area I just bought in, specfically earmarked as one of the most deprived areas in Scotland in the mid 90s and subject to massive redevelopment and still home to a couple of heroin hostels, is NOT a redevelopment area.

SDLT cheque signed and sent off yesterday, bds rolleyes

Don't worry they're putting the 40% of your income towards borrowing an extra £13bn, that we'll all have yo pay interest on for years to come.

This is the 70's again after all, we've had the 'economic miracle', stirling has soared, now the pot has run dry and the borrowing has begun even as inflation picks up the economy slows, and the £ begins to plunge.
