Someone has been speaking to me about spray tan booths and how easily they can be adapted to spray sun tan CREAM...
The idea being a coin operated booth a resorts / beaches and would spay whatever factor of cream you wanted.
I've found a patent (what it covers I'm still looking at) however I was just wondering if anyone has seen one?
It would be for lazy arses that cant be bothered / dont like putting cream on (i dont think that will be the strapline though

WOW, I had the same idea about 2 yrs ago (It wasnt me that mentioned it to you was it?)
No it was someone on holiday - their kids hate having cream put on and guesed they would like the novelty of it done in a spray booth...Can anyone shed a bit of light on this though:

After reading it a few times i still cant get what exactly the patent covers.
TIA
I didnt do much research on this but would mention that a main issue would be insurance. You must make sure you are watertight re liability cover. If your booth fails to operate properly and it can be proven that a client contracted skin cancer because of it...your stuffed. I know it sounds far fetched but 50 years ago when asbestos was being removed no one thought of the implications either, and we are in a much more eager "wheres the blame theres a claim culture"

Good idea but......
All public beaches in the UK fall under the "management" of local authorities. As such, to instal or even provide these (i.e, on a trailer), you will have to go through a maze of H&S stuff and other mountains of contracts before they will let you loose. Not saying they won't - just be prepared.

The H&S stuff would be a big factor.
Stevie - Your joking when you say in the UK?? with our poor summers! - didnt know that they were run like that though!
The target market would be 5* all inclusive resorts, sell the machines to the chains of resorts but design it so they can only use OUR suntan cream, i dunno maybe design it in a cartridge so they cant just top it up with there own stuff.. That would keep a bit of cash flow going...
Any other advice or views for me...
Basically - 'has it got legs?'

In that case would an audio message as well as signs saying. 'Please note you sunbath and use our machine at your own risk the sun is very dangerous and if in doubt stay in the shade we accept no responsibility if you die' or something like that (maybe not so harsh) Steve
If when you pressed start and it said (audio message) the disclaimer so there was no way you could use it without knowing the risks, wwould that be enough from a legal point of view?
A disclaimer of some sort may work, you would have to take legal advice on it. When I thought about it I had the idea of speaking to one of the suncream manufacturers to get them to supply the cream. 5,10,15,30 factors and block of course (for the redheads!) and then it would be good advertising for the cream company.

yeah - it would be exclusively for one of the cream companies to use just their cream. It would be good as it could be advertised on the machine giving the consumer a brand they know well to get them to use it.
Can anyone help me out? I need the patent looked at to see what it covers and also if anyone has contacts in the spay tan or sun tan cream world then let me know please! ;-)

I deal with local authorities a LOT. They can be very reasonable if you try to help them solve local problems that they have. We get a tremendous amount of support from our guys at the council. Just remember the amount of crap they have to deal with from Joe Public and treat them nice and you can't go far wrong All public beaches in the UK fall under the "management" of local authorities. Keep us updated I think this is a brilliant idea
