Mine has crept up and up. Today I am told that I will be paying £18.45p per consignment (up to 10kg) then 47p a kilo , all plus VAT. Last year it was £16.70 and 43p a kilo, so a rise of over 10%. The year before it was £9.60 plus 31p a kilo although admittidely that was on larger volume.

Any reliable but cheaper services you know of? Our volume is only aboyut 100kg a month in 4 or 5 conmsignments all next day UK mainland with collection from the offices.

we pay about £7 for upto 30kg, albeit for at least a parcel a day, but surely the price differential can't be that high?

Try couriers like APC who use franchises. Might be cheaper in your position ...

Who do you currently use?

We spend a small fortune on couriers (over 50K per year) on hundreds of individual deliveries and currently use TNT who on the whole do a pretty good job. We get a good rate, but do you mind me asking who is offering £7 for up to 30KG?

What size parcels, and on what delivery?

We currently pay £8 up to 20kg, any size and on a pre 12.00 next day.

Try these people

have used them about half a dozen times. They are a broker for several different firms but have found them very handy for the odd package now and then. Pretty good rates too and no account needed.

We use a local franchise of APC I think.

TNT are slightly cheaper as a tenant uses them, but getting some people to change is like getting blood out of a stone.

When I get the time, I will be looking into it properly.

Parcel sizes range, but max is 16"x16"x16", but can vary in each direction.

We use Fastway Couriers.

They are a franchised network and you buy delivery stamps in bundles. We bought 60 stamps and can send a parcel under 25kg for £4.95 + VAT.

If we do a local delivery with them, if its a am collection ts a PM delivery. We bought 100 stamps from them for this service ad its worked out at £2.95 + Vat each

Top service for our chap but I have heard they are having driver issues in Scotland.

We used FASTWAY for abit. As we sent more and more parcels through them, the more time we spent on the phone with them. We had some classics:
1) Driver lost the parcel or nicked it, then when we asked to be traced, he goes to the house and tries and gets a signature saying "I delivered a parcel to you last week but forget to get the signature". Buyer refused.

2) Buyer not in, so the driver chucks the parcel over his tall garden fence. It was electrical item which suprisingly didnt work when the buyer tried it.

3) Alot of parcels being lost at the hub

4) Drivers signing for parcels themselves when the customer were not even in.

List goes on...........

But have to say the guy who collected from us was great, it was shame that rest the drivers were not like him.

Having had far too many experiences of poor service from franchises, we'll only use TNT or similar.

We were once told by sty-link on a failed delivery of an urgent parcel (as they all are!) that it would not be delivered because the driver had been killed in a accident yikes

I decided I couldn't work with them from that day onwards....

We use senditnow.com

This is actually an alternative front-end to Parcelforce.

No need for an account, we just book online, ad-hoc.

Including VAT, its £13.99 pre noon up to 30kg. £11.99 24h £10.99 inc VAT.

Anyone know any cheaper than that which is either non-contract, or actually good to deal with?

It was totally fabricated!

The branch concerned made an official apology but as far as I'm concerned that was enough to move the business yes

If you are sending on average about one consignement of 25 Kgs per week, do you have a neighbouring business with a bigger requirement who has better rates in place so that you can just 'deliver' next door and pay your neighbour?

I use Interparcel quite a lot for equipment returns and the odd overseas bit of kit.

Not had any cause for complaint, at all.

If you setup an account you get a further 5% discount after your first order too.

Interparcel seem quite expensive compared to TNT.

For a pre 12.00 insured (to a very high value) costs us £11.00. This is also any number of items, any size and up to 20kg. We then pay about 23p per kg above 20kg.

Next day is even cheaper.
