60,000 Miles or Three Years
Discussion
I set myself a target to re-new my van either at 60k or three years - whichever came first. Two and a half years on and 49.9k miles later, it looks like three years will be up first.
Yes, the van is great; regular services, well looked after certainly not 'caned' in any way. The style / model is still current, so it will not begin to look old against a newer model...
Is 60k / three years a good time to move it on?

I would keep it until 5 years/100k. At 3 years it will have enough mileage on it for it to be a teeth sucking exercise by the salesman, but will be low enough for them to retail on. So they win. Keep it until 5 years, it's written off on your books by then and it will still get a decent enough trade in for a new one.
I'm assuming of course it's been reliable, and you are happy with it?

My cousin does that with his vehicles (although he normally hits the 60k miles first)
I remember my last Audi, when the finance was up at 3 years (58k miles) I paid it off and decided to keep the car for the time being. Ran the car for another 18 months. Shocking how much the car dropped in value with another 18months and 20k miles on it. Swore Id move the current car on when it hit 60k miles.
