Receipts!

So, what happens if the VAT man/Tax man comes a calling to look at your reciepts and the heat transferred ink has faded to the point illegibility?

Its mainly fuel receipts that this seems to happen to.

I'm guessing that 'well, it was the amount I've submitted' probably wont wash.

Depends on what mood he's in .

If the amounts aren't that massive, he might be inclined to take your word for it. I wouldn't worry too much.
