Dealing with Chinese
Discussion
Greetings all,
I have a new product which is currently going through the design phase and if tests are succesful, it will need to be mass manufactured. Due to the fact that the majority of the components are probably going to be sourced from China, it would make a whole load of sense to get them to manufacture it as a complete unit, and then we can hopefully sell it worldwide.
So the questions I have are:

Due to the fact that the majority of the components are probably going to be sourced from China, it would make a whole load of sense to get them to manufacture it as a complete unit, and then we can hopefully sell it worldwide.
So the questions I have are:
- Has anyone has previous experiences with the Chinese in bespoke assembly/manufacturing?
- I would prefer to jump on a plane and talk face to face but what about interpreters/security of product? Can it be done my email? My experiences so far are that it takes several days to reply, the wrong components are offered and generally the communication via email is not accurate to what I require.
- Patents - China is not, as far as I am aware, bothered about Patents in any manner - which is worrying. I believe I could have a ground breaking product and I don't want the rest of the world copying it although I am sure they will do anyway. My strategy is therefore to mass manufacture as many of these and get established rapidly in the market hopefully as a brand name, before the rest of the world rips it off. What is the likely hood of others copying it once it has gone to the manufacturer as an order?
- Does anyone have Sir Alan Sugars' telehone number?
