Is there a US equivalent of Companies House? Where I can pay a fee and access financial details about different companies. All part of a bit of research I'm doing into stock photo agencies.

I would guess that American corporations are registered on a state by state basis rather than a national/federal basis.

I'm only guessing mind you smile

It looks that way frown Any ideas on search terms to use to find the individual organisations?

How about getting access to a database like FAME or MINT that has company accounts and lists of directors...etc

http://www.bvdep.com/en/Company%20data%20-%20inter...

Some offer trial access, but your best bet would be to find a student with an 'athens' password (a free password every student has to access research databases) and then you can get unlimited access...

Getty Images (GYI) and Jupitermedia (JUPM) are the only US public stock image companies. (The other main company is Corbis which belongs to Bill Hates and is private.)
Use http://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/companysearch.html  input the company name as a search term. Then click on the company.
You want either their 10-K (annual) or 10-Q (quarterly) for detail on their financials.
If you have a specific question/benchmark, just ask, I may be able to find out.

No there isn't. There's only info on US PLC's, but that is a fraction of total US companies.

Thanks chaps. The EDGAR link is very useful. I'd already identified Getty as of interest, so I'm happy that I'm able to see some figures for them.
Walm, do you mind me asking what involvement you have in this industry. I only ask as I have an idea for a "new" model for a stock photo agency. Feel free to PM if you'd rather...
