Looking at setting up a Travel angency for the Mrs and want to go down the franchise route. Has anyone had any experience of these or any other travel agency franchises?

Is this the best time to be investing in travel? Specialising in UK holidays perhaps?

Surely all you need is a computer and an internet and you can start booking holidays for people?

To be fair it's slightly more complicated than just buying a website and a computer. I'm looking for something that follows a similar business model to what I currently have (insurance) without having to work 24/7 with the mrs.

I more looking at which travel agent systems work the best with anew startup. The global system is quite well set up in terms of leaving you to sell rather than getting bogged down with red tape.

Basically I want to know if any other PHer's have had any experince with gtg's system (triton) or any of the other ones that are available.

I used to maintain Galileo GDS a few years back, visiting customers/travel agents and large multiples keep their I.T kit going.

Travel agency businesses were dying on its arse, I spent the last year or two either disconnecting private leased line equipment or just cleaning ATB ticket machines.

Most TA's closed down, mainly because of the internet booking systems, ticketing is now err ticketless so no overheads on printing coupons.

The last few years was spent on swapping out expensive leased line and installing an internet base product FPNET, this is quite a simple program to install, uses VPN to make a connection to a GDS.
I believe you can get the product for a few hundred.
Pakistani travel agents made a big move for that product.

It's a tough business to be in and that includes the big business travel companies.

I'm training to be a gas engineer now!
