Anyone interested in sharing good gambling ideas? The only bet I have on at the moment is a ton at 1.96 on cameron and brown being party leaders next election... Those really stupid odds have good now although you can still get reasonable ones on betfair which I'd take were it not for my current exposure. I thought it might be good to make notes of any good tips in this thread.

Important: My definition of a good bet is one in which I believe the odds to be in my favour not one I believe I will win. Doing the latter is generally a recipie for ruin.

Unpatriotic maybe, but I think it may be profitable to bet against English sportspeople. For example, Andy Murray is 3rd favourite on Betfair.

So basically, a good bet is one where you think the odds are better of the situation happening than what the betting shop is offering?

That seems like a good concept. smile

You need to look for the concept of value Justin, ie. taking odds that are higher than the actaul probability of the event happening. You cannot fail to make money if you back 1/1 shots at 2/1 all day. The trick of course is being able to see value - this is something that take a lot of experience or superhuman calculator of a brain (or both).

It is one way of feeling happy about an outcome. If an English sports person or team win, you might lose but are proud to be British. If they lose, you're feeling down but £10k richer. biggrin
