Hi,

I have just started paying into my employers share scheme and thought i could put a spreadsheet together to show how much i have invested so far, and also how much it would be worth if i sold at current share price (once i input the share price) The scheme runs from May 08 to May 11, and ill be putting £100 a month. Would this be a simple sheet to put together? Any points would be appreciated.
Thanks
Is it a proper sharesave scheme I.I. backed by the government? If so my only tip is to put in the maximum £250 a month if you can. It's free from tax and is a no brainer really. I'm not sure if you can adjust the amount you put in once started but I know you can start another next year in parallel putting in £150 to make up the difference.

Yeah its backed ,and £250 is allowed.. will consider another £150 next year.
Is it possible to have a live feed into a spreadsheet? so an accurate share price would always be populated in the cell?

If you have access to a live data feed like Reuters or Bloomberg it's trivial to get the share price through DDE.

If you don't then have you considered doing it as a google document? You'll then be able to look at it from any computer and it has a (slightly delayed) share feed which you could use.
You can, but you'll just end up beating yourself up over the price. Remember, you can't convert in shares until May 2011 anyway, so any share prices between then and now are irrelevant.

The scheme is worth doing even if you believe the share price will be zero at the end. The tax saving alone (up to 40%) makes it worth it.
