Chaps. We have just completed a "Mobile" version of our HR processes application. You can now use your iPhone or Blackberry to complete your timesheet, book a day off, monitor your project "spend" or approve your people's overtime claims - and so on.

We are getting in touch with RIM and Apple and looking at their partnership schemes - which, I have to say, don't seem that impressive!

We'd like to market to businesses who are actively looking to extend their corporate systems to their mobile platform.

Are there any sites that these people use to research systems acquisitions that we should look at getting ourselves listed on?

Is it a client app that runs on the phone or just a small device optimised version of the web client?

If its the former, why no Win Mobile version?

If its the latter then as long as its browser tested I would have thought that no one need be involved.

It is a browser-based app, Plotters, just with a user interface optimised for small screens and stubby fingers. There will be a Windows Mobile version in due course - we just started with the Blackberry as it is the most popular corporate device. We did the iPhone next as it is the device of the moment!

The app automatically detects what sort of browser/device you are using and routes you to the UI most suitable. It's not hard to add devices (we think!).

When we tried releasing a mobile version of our app a year or two ago, we spoke to the mobile networks themselves. I think we tried all the major ones, and O2 showed some interest. They even lent us a couple of XDA's to test and demo on, the problem was getting them (as in O2) to actually do anything, as nobody seemed to stay in the same job for more than a couple of weeks so we were forever trying to explain what it was the app did and what they could do with it.

So nothing really came of it, maybe if you have a better contact than us you might be able to get them to do something for you!

The most effective way i've found of marketing mobile apps, is to look for companies that need an existing product mobile enabling, and don't have the skills/time/inclination to develop it themselves.
I write .net applications for Windows Mobile devices and i've picked up quite a bit of work that way. btw if you want a quote for a offline version of your system, let me know wink
