Hi guys,

A bit of a boring topic but I'm going to be working from home for a few months and need a seperate business line.

The current residential line is with BT.

Any recommendations for another provider for the business line or should I just get BT to install another?

I'm also thinking about getting an '0845' number. Again, recommendations on who to approach would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Business and home lines are with Talk Talk. Never had any issues, but no doubt someone on here will swear they're rubbish! smile

Don't go to bt for your 0845 number, there are loads of places on the net you can get one for free. We have a free 0845 from http://www.nongeographicnumbers.com/ for phone and 0844 for fax from www.firstcitytelecom.com

Have you considered using a Voice over IP service? I use www.voipfone.co.uk and am very pleased with them. 0845/0800 numbers available for next to nothing as well.

Cheers Tim. I wasn't aware that such a thing existed for business users. I'll look into a bit further

Thanks for the 0845 tip! I run my business from home but don't like the fact that I publicise my home number.

Anyone know if I can buy a phone which will 'know' (and tell me) whether the caller rang my landine number or the 0845 'redirect'?

While looking into the 0845 numbers, I've come across a 'Fax to Email' service which basically means there isn't the need for a fax machine or seperate fax line. All incoming fax documents get forwarded to an email address as PDF doc's.

As I'm only going to be working from home for a few months I didn't really want to get numerous additional lines installed at home and this seems like a good solution.

Any of you guys use this service?

sounds like a YAC service to me (www.yac.com).

I used to use it, it is 0709 numbers, so slightly higher cost to call, but it acts as forwarding numbers for both voice and data.

Your 0845 provider should be able to set things up so that if someone calls via the 0845 number then that is the number that is displayed. They will probably charge extra for doing this tho.....
