Hey guys, i'm just curious.. how would one go about generating a living from owning a few shipping containers

havent really had time to look into it much, but it seems the most common way is to build houses from them?

surely there's more profit in just sticking em on a boat out to somewhere.

and also what is the best size to get?

20ft or 40ft?

will be continuing my research as time permits...

Hire them out as storage/temporary offices for building sites.

You wont really get mch hiring them out for shipping as all the shipping lines have their own containers, plus there are alot of large companies outand about whom hire vast quantities of containers to all and sundry, the market is as full as it can get really until the next wave of new container vessels hits the seas.

Best bet, mak them into mobile offices (mobile in the snes they can be moved using a hiab) or mobile storage solutions, or get a yard with a few and store on site

As for whats best, a mix of both. In shipping, around 85 - 90% of boxes moved are 40ft, but there is a market for the 20's

bury them on a plot of land you've bought, buy some horses and put them in the field on top, and grow some plants in them.

storage

theres a couple near me that has land and has about 10 on there , he rents them out for storage for pepole that are leaving country and just want to store there car or stuff over the winter period .

i hire one of him and use it to keep all my building matireals and tools that i dont use on that offten so there not on the van .

can be some money in it but only realy benifical if you have the space to store them unless you can garuntee them to be moved from one site to another .

building sites as use for office etc is ok but theres quite few big names doing it at the minute belive.

as for size i would say 20ft as you can then use a rigid for moving them where as 40ft require a artic , but i would think a mix would go well

I'd like a 20' with double doors and lock cowl fitted.
The cheapest I've found (delivered to Notts.) is about £1400 + VAT.
