With all the share prices dropping is now the time to invest in a medium to long term investiment with shares.

I would not plan to play the market myself but just to hand the cash over to a broker / trader and how much say do I need to have in what happens ? I give a broker 20 K and then do what ?

Just heard than Alan Sugar has invested 2 million in Woolworths shares, im guessing following the investiment footsteps of a man like him shouldnt be such a bad move.

You give 20k to a "broker" and then you are 20k less off...

Seriously, if you don't know what to do - DONT play.
There may be opportunities but it looks like the downtrend will last for longer.

He can afford to lose it.

Drip feed it in (do that call that price/cost averaging?) or managed funds with a bit of diversity including some bonds?

I intend to continue buying in. I'll accumulate units at their current low price. Hopefully in 25 years time things will have improved.

However, if you're in your fifties and there's the possibility you'll want your money back in the next 5-10 years, then perhaps it's too risky?

Who knows what will happen though. I'm taking risks.
