Hi all,

I am currently in the process of setting up a business.
I have a business plan in place, i am currently investing my own money into the venture.

Business cards and a services brochure that i can distribute are currently being printed, website is being developed.
Registered the business and in the process of pitching for various projects and agreeing on a contract, also expanding a large clientele database.

Surely it cannot be this easy? am i missing something..i am following my strategic plan and everything is working out.

Is there anything i am yet to do that is significant in the set up process.

P.S: Once a project is won i will then start employing and sorting out an office.

Many thanks for all your help, regards

Just reading your post - good luck to you, I hope that it's really that easy!

I'd be intrigued to know what you're setting up, if it can be as easy as that, and you can establish the operations once you have the sales in hand..

I've always wanted to set up on my own and figured it's the only way i'll be happy!

Thank you for your kind words.

I've been pitching for the past 2 months and securing a contract so i guess that is the hardest part.

What is the business or is it top secret?

Setting up a business isn't normally the hard bit, it's getting sales, delivering the product or service and then getting PAID! smile

Good luck to you, you will never regret starting up your own business!

Don't assume you've got their business until they are legal bound... I speak from experience.

Don't underestimate employing people they can be a world of pain. Take time to get the right people not just any old hack. Agencies can be useful and can be awful so choose wisely if you are using them.

As for office rental well bully the landlord into reducing the lease time and look to get a rent free period. The recent changes to Business rates on empty offices makes landlords more keen to get a tenant.

Thank you for the advice, I will watch out for that.

I'm a very strong negotiator so i am sure it'll be ok.

There is a lot of recruitment agency's that i know well so i will be sure to approach them.

Thanks again

The only thing you appear to be missing is getting business and getting paid. Both of these can take a great deal of time. Hopefully you've done your marketing properly - so that you are offering what people want to buy - and then you need to be good at sales so you get the order rather than the usual 'call us back next year/sometime/never' crap which seems so common these days.

Getting paid is the biggest issue. Cash is king and business doesn't 'exist' until the buggers have paid you.

Good luck with it.
