How can I go about setting up as an online retailer without holding any stock? The customer gets the goods straight from the manufacturer...

Is it possible? Do manufacturers like this?

its called Drop shipping- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drop_shipping Although its not usually from manufactures (although can be) but from dealers.

Definetly possilbe. I run a business that does this with furniture. We ship directly to the customers address for the person. We require funds upfront but works pretty well for both parties.

Ah, yes, that's the phrase. I had a vague inkling I'd heard it before.

(Wonder why it's called drop shipping as it has nothing to do with dropships. silly )

I ran an online company which was a mix of holding stock and suppliers / maanufacturers sending out my products direct to my customers, works pretty well.

Anyone got any good dropshippers lists? Looking to setup another online store but needs to be fully drop shipped due to my location. I haven't decided on a product as yet though!

Word of warning.

The manufacturer will have to be given the names of all your customers. So be nice and loyal to the manufacturer, work with him and work fair as he will have one your most valuable assets in his pocket.
