Customisable multi user bookings diary - recommendations?
Discussion
Our service manager at work (Porsche independent) is leaving shortly, he currently books in services and books out loan cars using a paper diary.
We are looking to put into place something computer based which we can all add to (admin, MD, sales and workshops) which will let us know how many loan cars are available, how busy the workshop is, that kind of thing. The workshop is in a separate building from the sales office although computers are linked between both
Does anyone have any recommendations? I know there are loads of fully bespoke dealer management systems out there but for us something like Kerridge would be overkill, we are looking at 4 users at most.

A google calendar?
We use that for our workflow management, and a single subscription to the Goosync service allows us all (four users) to update it over the air from our mobile handsets - though you probably won't need that functionality.

Funny you should say that, I did a proof of concept using google calendar, I already use it for syncing my thunderbird calendar with my blackberry. We use that for our workflow management, and a single subscription to the Goosync service allows us all (four users) to update it over the air from our mobile handsets - though you probably won't need that functionality.

Lots of options here for you and having been the OPs Director in a past life for a large dealership group I can certainly help you. Initially it depends on what you're trying achieve e.g scheduling by technician, workshop loading, pre-parts ordering, collection delivery, MOT etc Secondly do you run a DMS system and if so what's the view of the IT Dept on you having a seperate system?
There are quite a few really good systems on the market if you want to go down the IT route alternatively I can offer you some good experience on how to use T Cards and which one to buy -Glad to help - just drop me a line
