I'm sure this will get moved into the correct place. Thanks Mods wink
Does anyone know of any closed and for sale pubs / restaurants in the Oxfordshire / Gloucestershire / Warwickshire triangle?
Ideally we want a 50 - 80 cover restaurant, with a couple of acres close either with it or close by.
Accommodation for one family but not necessarily to rent out rooms.

Person became ill.

Didn't have time.

Couldn't run it due to poor organisation.

Didn't know how to run one.

Poor business ideas.

Poor financial management.

Just because the times are hard doesn't mean there is no longer money to be made....

And with a Chef with many years behind him, and a few M stars under his belt wanting to go in the the kitchens, I think we could make a go!

There is one in Sonning Common that I pass regularly, just on the Reading side of the village.

This place has been for sale for the past 12 months, about the size you are looking for with regards to covers. Let me know if you want me to find out who is selling it.

If you could, that would be good.
Thanks

I used to check www.businessesforsale.com (I think thta's right)

Worth a look, although you won't know whether or not a pub is closed until contacting the agent.

Morning Advertiser is probably the best place to go.

Thanks
I have been through most of the main selling agents, and was hoping to find insider local knowledge.

There might be a restaurant up for sale in Bicester... There was one that was closed. It should have made lots of money but the service was absolutely dire and the owners were clueless (imho). I don't think there are any pubs there for sale at the moment. I'll take
a look today when I go there and PM you if there are any.

What's the acreage for? There are quite a few farms for sale nearby, so plenty of acreage for sale, I'm sure a deal could be done for a small parcel of it..

There was a pub for sale in Flackwell Heath (Bucks), but I'm not sure if that's been snapped up by a developer.. There is one for sale in High Wycombe (Bucks again) but that's not in a great location.. I can't remember who is selling these and they may be outside of the area you're looking in.

This was the place I was going to mention. Often use the car park to turn around in when I miss the turning before it.. tongue out

The idea is to manage and farm a small amount of chickens, and grow all the herbs and veg needed for the kitchen.

Not in Oxfordshire, but I would love someone to buy this place in our village. Would save me going to the next village for a trip to the pub biggrin

clicky

It seems an incredibly fickle business - in pubs around our way (rural Cheshire) some are packed all the time while others are empty. I do think that when you're getting a bill for £100 for 2 in a pub restaurant then that makes you think twice about the ad hoc "shall we eat out tonight, dear" occasions.

The plough & anchor at wescott in bucks is boarded up and will probably be up for sale, this was a very nice pub we had a few xmas dinners there!.. Used to get busy there!

All newly done up, with a huge car park.. massive potential if you have money to get it going again!

Sorry to partially hijack but are you from around that area, just bought a house there. What are the good locals for me to try?
