100k for a business
Discussion
So, you have 100k to invest of someone else's money on a 50/50 basis with the investor.
But you get to decide what to invest into.
Can be starting a business form scratch or buying one.
In the current economic climate i don't expect many people to say "a restaurant"
What would you go for?

100k from scratch wont get you much if you need to buy things, if its IT related it will go far... baliffs and debt collectors would be the thing to go for in this climate.
But it ultimately depends on what you and your partner have knowledge on?
I.E. you aint going to open up and do consultancy for investment banks when your background knowledge is engineering, blah, blah, blah....

Yeah I agree 100k is not a lot but that's the point of the game. if it was a mil, many would just say bank it and move to thailand for a while But it ultimately depends on what you and your partner have knowledge on?

So the question is what would YOU go for?

Anyone sensible is going to say something related to what they know, so for me it would be IT related. But if I was my nephew it would be restaurant/hospitality, for my brother in law it would be interior design related etc. etc. If you don't invest in something you know your chance of losing your money is far, far greater.

Currently waiting for the above to kick off properly (only been 3 months), enough work for 2, just not 3 at the moment and since they are the main investors, they get the contracts first.
In the mean time im getting as much consultancy work as possible to get the experience of project management and consultant roles.
That answer the question

Online gaming.. re-skin a popular gaming format (bingo for example) and market the hell out of it (but be a little imaginative with how you do this...)
Believe me it works. Cos thats what we do!
Or simple online competitions with guaranteed prizes.... as a means to gather customer data...
Or buy a GT2.

GM is looking for a buyer
Yes, but £100k for GM would be a little overpriced don't you think?
I think it is about fair for Newcastle United though.
Take into account you will have to cover the large wages of crocked stars as they mope around in the Championship though.
I have a business for sale (Loans, Debt Management, Mortgages Introducer). It was on the market for £225k but I have reduced to £125k or offers iro. It can be run from home, 1 or 2 people and can be built up further relatively easily. I am only selling as I started another business last year which has really taken off and I cant devote time to this one. It has been established 6 years - pm me if you need further info.

I would create a niche online business marketplace/network for a particular subject matter to which I have lived and breathed for the past 10 years. However the money alone would not be enough, the time and commitment to devote to the idea would be much more important.
50% of the way there... I would say the reputation and client base you have in the 10 years would be just as important as I have seen good people slog their guts out but since they are not really known in the industry as a company then noone will take the risk and touch them.... thats one of the main stumbling blocksjas xjr said:

Find a struggling shop. Try to buy it cheap and turn it around.
i have done this several times.common sense and some genuine enthusiasm goes a long wayIt seems a little basic when it could be so much better and could even net you some sales?
Sorry curiosity got the better of me
