Is anyone on here a disributor for U.W on here as the missus thinks that this would be a great idea to earn some extra cash. From what I can see it sounds far to much like a betterware, avon sort of idea, as in break your back doing crap for a few pence return! If anyone is I'd love to know what the crack is with it!

I used to have electricity and gas off them so someone made some comission. But yes as with most things to make any decent money I think you probably have to have a fair few signed up plus other people selling under you. Typical Pyramid scheme just selling something that people actually need.

My old neighbour sold them to us. He loves a "get rich quick" type offer - He had all these foam pigs lol - and used to go to shopping centres to sell. I suppose if you don't mind approaching people to sell things, then its a way to make money. He did used to bombard us with emails though which was a little annoying.

Anyway, we used them for a couple of years, paid a set price each month, felt that towards the end we should shop around - turns out they weren't charging us enough per month and we had to find about £300 to pay off our bills and get rid. From this experience, I no longer pay monthly set fees but prefer to pay quarterly bills.

Its not a scam or con but then again i wouldn’t be sold as a get rich quick idea.

Unless you have some time to dedicate to it then like most things you won’t get anything back but if however you have a good manner and trusting looking face and you are willing to get out there talking to people you can make good money.

The alternative is to think outside the box a bit and look to different groups of people or business's that you can tap into.

The only drawback that i think makes most people weary of the scheme is that if you do not continue to recruit people then you won't get paid any commission.
The secret to the system is to recruit one person a month at least to keep your commission going, once you get to 50 customers then you don’t have to recruit to receive commission.

If you do get a good customer base then you can start to build a team of other exec's / salespeople they then earn money and you start to earn off their work much in the same way as the person who you go under will benefit from you.

I am an exec but did it more as we put all our rentals under the scheme and therefore make money from the gas / elec etc for nothing.

They are not that competitive on Phones but the broadband is pretty good.

Go along to a local meeting and talk to the others you will also be able to see what your area is like, as i said i think the secret is to get into a niche or group of customers.

A company I used to work for had lots of problems with them last winter. The support staff are an absolute shower of sh*t in my opinion and we're talking about them being a tiny office with a couple of dodgy geezers here, rather than the Indian call centre obvious dissatisfaction scenario. They were more than happy to threaten us with all sorts of potential legal action when they failed to help us resolve a fault on the phone and we mentioned we would be looking elsewhere for our services in future.

I would avoid any dealing with them like the plague if it were my decision.

What kind of legal action did they threaten you with??? One of the biggest selling factors of Utility Warehouse is that you are NOT in a contract you can leave, same goes for their Phone services etc??? Dont see why they would have had to have threatened you with legal action?

Trust me i am not saying this as a sales pitch but i think if you check "Which Magazine" they have consistantly come up as high in Customer Services and the reviews.

I stumbled across this when installing something for a customer , she had a mini sign written in the U.W livery. We got chatting about it and she explained what was involved , commission structure etc and gave me the promo DVD.

I watched the DVD and concluded that if the services offered were competitively priced it could be a workable scheme, however a quick look on the usual comparison sites for utils , eg uSwitch etc , revealed the unit price for gas / elec / landline / broadband and mobile was not really competitive at all and could easily be beaten by a host of different suppliers.

With that I mumbled that familiar phrase from Dragons Den............... "I'm out"

I went along to a seminar/presentation with my Financial Adviser mate who thought it'd be an easy way to get people working for us and make money - it's NOT.

It'll work ok and if you apply the time and effort (like anything) you can make good money at it. HOWEVER, everyone you talk to from UW will tell you how fantastic it is, especially at one of these events as they all work for the same man/woman at the top of that particular chain.
If you listen to them they'll have you falling over yourself to join.

I asked a few demanding questions like:

How much money did you make last year / month
How many people have you got in your team
What level are you
etc

They wouldn't tell me exactly but I worked it out that to earn 100k/yr you'd need to sign up 10,000 people/distibutors. Far too much hard work and effort for me TBH.

Forget the few hours per week .... that's utter BOLL*CKS if you want to earn decent money .... nothing is free ... EVER.

I can give you the name number of a UW rep who does it full time and has spent 5 yrs doing it, for a chat with her. PM me if you're interested.

Hi I have just joined the utility warehouse business, and am very excited, its NOT a get rich scheme or is it pyrimad selling, i am really looking forward to getting started, if you want more info you can email me on simonwilliams540@btinternet.com and i can sign your wife up. If you work about 15 to 30 mins aday your business will be ok, but if you work around two hours a day you could have a good investment. I also have a friend who has been doing it for around 2 years and he is earning around £2000 pcm. Hope this helps.

I am a Uw distributor with 1,500 domestic and 600 small business customers and 100 distributors as part of my team.

Our prices are 40% cheaper than BT, British Gas, Eon, Npower, Scottish Power, EDF and Southern!

Given we only have a 28 day contract period with no penalty to leave should you wish to go back to your previous supplier and pay their higher prices.

I am always looking for people who wish to earn a part time income like I did 3 years ago and now I am earning £15k a month thru UW with 1000s of very satisfied customers.

So why don't you list the cost per unit for gas & electricity , mobile phone / landline tariff and broadband charge per month for ,say 10mb unlimited. Then we can see this 40% saving for ourselves
