Starting a small business?

I would like to earn some pocket money at the weekends,
Some hedge cutting and fence repair,

What do I need to do legally, is there a point at which it stops being a paid pastime, and becomes of interest to HMC

There isn't a lot of money about for the jobs I do just now,
Mainly I was wondering how it works in general terms, should someone ask for a receipt,
and subsequently if the IR came looking to see what I'd been up to

If you start running a business, youi have three months within which you must notify HMRC.

It is up to you to let them know.

Miss the three month deadline and you are fined £100.
