Been offered a few positions working within the concrete ring that is the M25. Job is short term engineering contract (piling to be specific), just right for what i want it for.

It appears i might have been given free range on what they will consider for my hourly rate..! I don't want to look daft by scoring ridiculously lower or higher than they were expecting.

I have 4.5 years relative experience/qualifications. Does anyone know what this might equate to?? I think they are quite keen to take me on and know my circumstances, so that might give me a couple of £/hr over *normal* scenarios but still i am a little unsure of what to ask for.

Thanks in advance...

Hi

What exactly is the role? (I'm a QS practicing in London &, sadly, I may well know the answer off the top of my head!)

Hi - can't remember the exact title, but it is basically assistant (second) site engineer. i.e. not the project running engineer but his next in line.

Thanks

I would guess between £20-£25/hr. We employ assistant engineers at £17 hr upwards. Engineers can expect up to around of £30hr in London with experience (10 yrs plus) on the client side. If you are chartered more I guess. I have only ever worked on the consultant/client side so it could be different for contractors.
You could just phone an agency and ask 'an idea of what to expect' for this sort of job.
