anyone a member of Stax tradecentre?
Discussion
I've just been to stax in birmingham, I went in with my vat reg form, invoices, ID etc, just to open an account and have a brief look at their products and prices, as I've heard their products are cheap enough to sell on at a reasonable margin.
Now because I'm a food wholesaler and looking into other avenues to expand, the two women on the front counter treated me like a piece of dog turd they'd just stepped in, just because I'm not already in the trade. So it seems I'm good enough to be a member of 12 other wholesalers but not them!
Do any of you use them, and are their prices that good? as it looks as though I will need to set up a new company to use them, as I'm interested to hear more about the website they set up for you to sell their products as well.

Im not a member but my Ex's Parents were. Ive been to the one in Manchester a fair few times. The prices are cheap and they have 2 different prices one for special members or something but not sure how that works. They sell everything from washing up liquid to bags of cement.
For Eg when i did our house up i bought new brushed steel light switches and plugs etc. The little DIY shop that was 2 min from my house sold the same switches at pretty much double the price i paid for them at Stax in fact most of his stock came from Stax and the mark up was a lot on most things he sells.

Agree with OP about the brum branch, had the same treatment by most probably the same two women on the front....I was with my mate who has a warehouse, we were in a van, had a wad of cash and still she wouldnt let us in and thats even with 2 invoices from other places in brum to show that he was a bona-fide retailer
what gets me is their carpark is full of cars, hardly any vans and when you go inside theres old dears pushing trolleys around maybe spending a tenner after waltzin around for 4 hours
the food is good n cheap in their restuarant tho
What kinda stuff were you hoping to get, there are a few cheaper and better places in brum than Stax

I also get the extra 20% retailer's discount. As another poster mentioned, lots of cars very few vans, with lots pf grans pushing trollies with one box of soap powder and a pack of toilet rolls on. Never found Stax staff to really question a "trader" to register, I know lots of jobbers, diy shoppers registered with stax. I have also found staff working for large organisations like Fire Brigade, Police, Council to be using a staff card in Stax.Gassing Station | Business | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
