Are you sure a bandsaw is your best bet? There are various specialist handheld jigsaw-like machines that might be more suitable.

So are you saying that the depth of cut needs to be 4foot?

What final shape are you trying to achieve? slab or shaped?

If you are then you are possibly looking a wood/lumber mill type saws.

You could try this company they may have what you need or be able to point you in the right direction

Found this

Stenner VQT 48" twin bandsaw

Or as an idea

Or this type of construction, you could adapt to suit your needs.

I'm guessing he's thinking bandsaw to get the reduced kerf, and maybe to cut curves. It's a shame he's provided so little detail, we don't know how thick the foam is, how hard, whether it's amenable to being cut with a hot wire, or whether it's rigid or not. If it's not rigid then I have found in the past that a cutting action such as is found on electrci carving knives to be very effective, and I know there are specialist machines of that type.

where are you based ?

is it just a one-off or is it a continuous job ?

where i work has a Hyma vertical bandsaw with a 6ft throat
and a Baumer horizontal slitter with a 2m blade

pics from Google, but similar to our machinery

what you need is called a sliding table bandknife.

its like a bandsaw but the table moves backwards and forwards and there is a moveable sidewall moved by a rotory handwheel.
