retro invoicing

a buddie of mine has just been invoiced for services recived three years ago is this legal ?

Did he receive the services?

Did he agree to pay?

Has he previously paid?

There is a limitation of I think 7 years after which an unacknowledged debt is unable to be chased.

Lots of what if's but basically yes it is legal. Statute of Limitations is 6 years. If the error was the other way around i.e. if they had overcharged you and you spotted it 3 years later, would you still want a refund?
