Dear members.

I'm after some links/ contacts to firms who make bulldog clips and similiar as I need a metal clip making to my design.

I would be grateful for any help.

Google brings up millions of sellers but I need to speak to a manufacturer.

Prototype run probably 1000 clips.

Many Thanks Peter

Yep you could do that and pay 5-10 times the price making you uncompetative and have a product that is no better quality then the British version. wink

I'm at the crappy end of manufacturing and whilst we've benefitted from the Chinese work force we've also suffered massively because of it on our day to day stuff i.e. we just cant compete on widgets!!!

Like the old saying goes - if you cant beat 'em.....

Just a thought did you do you search under Bulldog clips? if so this is where you may go wrong as Bulldog was the company who designed them. having had a quick butchers if you type in 'Binder Clips' there are loads that come up.

I've seen a couple of Chinese suppliers but i'm not sure if they do oem versions. let me know if you want any help if you want to go down that route and i'll give you some pointers.

Yes, Chief If you can give me some pointers please, I realised it would prob have to be China.

I tried seraching on binder clips earlier loads of sellers, but no identifiable small manufacturers.

Thanks

Do you have tooling?
If you do, I would have thought there are many companies that would bite you hand off to do this work.
They probably don't advertise as "small manufacturers of binding clips" however.

I have the idea in my head and sketched out in a horrible word document I don't have cad.

I don't have any tooling so I need to discuss with someone who can get the gist of my idea and translate it into a clip. I should be possible to stamp it out from a single piece and then bend heat treat/whatever to form the sprung clip.

It's a very simple part that will cost pence once up and running.

The tool probably won't be cheap, but if you get it made yourself, then it's yours.

You need to google the word "progression tooling". You'll find a myriad of (British) companies who can make the tool you need. Then all you have to do is find someone with a spare press, and the things will fly out. You would probably expect to be able to make something like 25,000 in a working day.

The tool will need maintenance. It will occasionally break, and be in need of repair. Typically breakages are unpredictable, but they stem from a lack of maintenance. If running continuously you would typically need to do preventative maintenance once a week. The actual maintenance might take a couple of hours for a skilled toolmaker.

If you can, try to get it done in the UK.
