We'll need a bit more than that. What are you after? £10k to help open a pasty shop in some deserted part of the Northern wastelands or £10M to fund a major development? Some won't touch the lower end and some can't touch the top end.

Industry sector? Some will only invest in a sector they have some understanding of.

Are you after anything other than money? Marketing, Technology, management input as well as the readies?

Wanna give me some money? Lets see a show of hands!!??

Hello...

Guys....

Whether someone is interested is going to be *totally* around what field it is, and the kind of investment you think you need.

You need to at least detail that - it doesn't need to be much, just:

"A pasty shop, specialising in traditional Cornish Pasties on the edge of a shopping centre in Bury, about £10k needed."

I maybe wrong but a sub £5k investment is not likely to appeal to many. Nor should it to you really.

An investor is going to want a slice of the pie so you'll be giving away a share of your business. £5k is not a difficult amount of money to raise yourself through the banks. If you are convinced of the likely success of the business, then I'd go the bank route.

If you're not convinced, I'd stop and do something else.

I'm oout!

The Chairman of this company is a very good friend of mine:

I've looked at a fair few investment opportunities sent my way, not yet invested in any but I'm sure I will at some point.

£5k is really too small an amount to invest in any business.

Get a new credit card and stick it on that.
