Didn't know where to put this - but this seems like as good-a place as any.

Does anyone know what the minimum terms are for cashing back premium bonds? I've read the blurb and unless I'm missing something obvious, I can't see it....

Thanks in advance.

Don't think there is one. As far as I am aware you can cash in whenever you want.

you cash them in when you fancy, any amount, fill out the form online and get a cheque within 10 days usually

I often use them to stash cash from time to time until I need it for other things, so regularly put in say £5-15K and then take it out a few months later ...most times I get a few winnings each month too ...shame none have been the £1M yet smile

You get winnings? Crikey. I barely remember what they are.

I had £20k in over the last year and got 9% on my investment in varying degrees of £50's and a couple of £100's (and that's not taxable bear in mind!)

Definitely worth a punt if you can leave your cash away for a while, although I have friends who seem to avoid ever winning anything!

Cash comes back really quickly. I cashed in a couple of thousand in December and got the money in the bank a week later. You can cash them the day after you recieve them if you want them.

I've had a bit of a run recently and over the passed 6 months I'll probably get about a 2.5% return. I think I've been lucky. I enjoy the thought of a big cheque turning up rather than earning a pittance in the bank.

Thanks - that helps a lot...from what I gather, they are classed as single units, so buying 10 lots of £1,000 is the same as putting away £10,000?
