I have about 2000-3000 flyers from an offer we are about to finish. Rather than chuck them in the bin I'd like to get some use out of them. I'd like them sent to land on the laps of small business owners throughout South Wales.

Any ideas on a cost effective way of doing this?

A mailing house will cost you about 19p each for postage, plus the insertion into an envelope, maybe another 8p or so.

Maybe look for any large business conferences/events going on in the area. Get someone to pass them out there?

Cheers chaps.

A local conference is a good idea. The other favourite at the moment is getting one of the local business magazines to include one in each copy, though I bet that wouldn't be too cheap.

Personally I'd do a small direct mail campaign to a tightly focussed database. You'll struggle to get rid of that quantity any other way besides perhaps putting them in the local rag.

If you were more local I'd offer to run them through our mailing machine for you!

Just seen your occupation on your profile...... biggrin

Random distribution rarely works.

Statistically you'd getter a better hit rate if you profile your existing customers (SIC codes / Yellow Pages + turnover) and run a match to get records of companies with similar characteristics.

Probably cost you a few hundred quid extra for the data.

Avoid the Easter break as your audience will probably be filtering a bigger pile of mail than average.

Hit rate will still be in low single figures unless your offer is really good.

....... but it's still a very valid low cost method of drumming up business so good luck.

edit - conference is a good idea. They'll probably charge you to be part of the official pack, but just be a cheeky bugger and arrive early and put a leaflet on every chair - chances are the people organising the day will be too busy to notice and won't want the confrontation.
