Currently looking at an opportunity which will generate reasonable sums of Euros being paid to me every month.
I don't purchase anything in Euros, so really need to convert it into Sterling as cheaply as possible.
Anybody know the best way to do this?
Any advice most welcome.

Hi there,

First point is to call and discuss with the Currency Exchange type places who give better rates than the banks.

Do a search, there's plenty of specialists in this area who will be able to help.

Cheers, Dennis! West London & Slough UK!

Louis.

I might be able to help you. If you'd like to PM me with a brief outline I'll see what I can achieve for you.
Savings vary of course, but generally speaking a 5k saving is possible on spends of 500k
Banks also charge around £20 per transaction we can usually half that cost.

We use Voltrex, great personal service and very good rates (we save circa £400 per £15k) + no transaction charges. PM me if you want direct line details on who to contact (rather not post it on public forum). They're also FSA regulated which a lot of FX firms aren't.

If you're likely to be paying a chunk of it back out in Euros as well, it might be worth looking at multi currency bank accounts, eg

I use HIFX and Worldwide Currencies - both very good, but when you take transfer fees into account your bank may well be just as good even with losuy rates for smaller amounts - say under €2,000.

Worldwide are pretty good, have online set up. Much easier than moneycorp and travellex etc. You can do live quotes on worldwides site, where as most others you have to call

I get my European clients to pay me in Sterling, so they take the hit. May not be a possibility for you though...

I work for a currency exchange company Caxton Fx - we have an online transfer system for smaller sums - under £5k - that will cut out any bank charges. We also do larger transfers at very competitive rates.
