Anyone done a website link swap with related (not competitor obvisouly) businesses?

If so, how easy were they to arrange and did it / has it gone to plan.

Basically I want to try and increase traffic on my website and was wondering if linking it from other peoples websites would help.

They in turn get a link on my website to theirs....

Thanks in advance.

Reciprocal linking can help but it isn't as beneficial as it used to be. You should concentrate on getting one-way links pointing in to your website. Have a look at some directories, industry specific sites and blogs and target them for links.

Loads of them are free, some will charge. Try and get the free ones first as in many industries, a handful of free directory listings will do wonders for rankings.

Here's some places you may want to start looking for a link related to your industry:

Just make sure that if the site looks spammy you walk away. Any site with viagra or excessive gambling links isn't somewhere you want linking to your site.

JCB. Most of those directories or any other web page where your getting a random link on page will not benefit you in the way your hoping. Yes it's probably helpful for your SEO and getting your web page a little higher in the google search ranking but you will see very little direct traffic from those links.

If you want real people to visit then do a google for something like "blog Lincolnshire architecture" and find relevant blogs. Usually you can comment on the posts and leave a link.

If you find a good quality and high traffic blog you can then ask to do a "guest post". Write something interesting and informative (not a sales pitch!) related to your business speciality and you will get a ton of qualified traffic to your website.

I have a links page for trusted allied suppliers in my industry. It's really to be helpful to my customers; any extra googleage is a bonus.
